I love buying new hardware. Needless to say I give my Budgeting software fits and red ink. I just purchased a 1TB Raid drive. This drive contains 2 - 500GB hard drives. I am able to stripe the raid and have a really fast 1TB hard drive or two smaller 500GB drives or 500GB drive that is redundant.
I personally favor the 1TB striped for the speed. I had one at one time that one of the drives died and I lost all the data. This was bad. However, no worse then losing a single hard drive, just more frustrating because I have half the data.
You may want to go to the big blue and yellow big box store as they are getting rid of these drives at a good price.
